MAURY COUNTY - The “Gotta Spay To Play” neuter program in Maury County has been awarded the low-income subsidy Animal Friendly Grant for 2008-2009.
It is the only neuter program in Maury County to receive this year’s grant.

COLUMBIA - An unexpected visitor created a potentially stinky situation Tuesday at the YMCA pool in Columbia.
Lifeguard Melissa King said she saw a skunk run into a tent used by a hot-dog vendor near the pool. The skunk was spotted about noon, and up to 50 people were present at the time.

COLUMBIA - The city’s fire chief said Columbia’s Bicentennial Celebration fireworks display this month could be in danger of being canceled.
