Woman donates kidney to dialysis patient

COLUMBIA - Though Jennifer Haddock and Sandy Melton met just two weeks ago, Haddock plans to save Melton’s life Tuesday.

At Vanderbilt Medical Center, Haddock will donate her left kidney to Melton, who was diagnosed with chronic renal failure in 2004 after a routine checkup showed high levels of creatinene in her blood. Creatinene is the substance filtered from the blood found by the kidneys and passed out of the body in urine.
