Local artist displays works in CSCC’s Pryor Art Gallery
COLUMBIA - The works of local artist John Andrade are now on display at Columbia State Community College’s Pryor Art Gallery on the Columbia campus through July 30.
“In the tradition of the Color Field artists now on display at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville, Andrade, a self-taught artist, begins with color as his object and puts it on canvas to make visual an emotion, a reaction or an expression,” said Lucy Kuykendall, Pryor Gallery curator. “A burst of color on a field is a good description for any one of the paintings in the Pryor Gallery.”
