Parents must take the first steps in preventing gang violence
Born on the streets, nourished and matured in prison, gangs not only influence clothing, crime and conduct, but are the unseen forces behind violence, gunfire and drugs in Maury County.
Bullets fired from outside a Columbia woman’s home March 25 wounded her and narrowly missed her children. Two people shot and killed on Nashville Highway in April and the virtual closing of Columbia Central High School — with law enforcement bracing for retaliation — have all been labeled gang related.
