The Unkindest Cut
Some local charities are having to turn people away because of a decline in donations caused by tough economic times and an influx of new faces seeking help.
Kara Huckaby, director of The Family Center in Columbia, said demand for rent assistance and free food offered by the charity has doubled while contributions are stagnant.
