Disappointing Choices for 2008
I’m trying to imagine Barack Hussein Obama as President. Let’s see………Insurance for everybody, including illegal aliens, Immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq resulting in a bloodbath of Iraqi nationals, the overtake of Iraq by Iran, (close to being a nuclear power), the loss of our investment in American lives, treasure and progress in the war against terror, worldwide loss of respect for America’s resolve and stamina, (turning us into a laughing stock), increased current taxes plus brand new taxes, (check out Obama’s bill for a new UN Poverty tax) more liberal judges turning our Constitution upside down, unfettered abortion, legalized same sex marriage, increased government intrusion in and control over our lives and the list goes on. Maybe cabinet position(s) for Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Father Phlegler, Bill Ayers and Louis Farrakan will be first, (or at least early) on his presidential agenda. Perhaps I’m just being negative. Jihadists support him after all and he wants to snuggle up with them and whisper in their ears; that should solve our problems; why am I not encouraged?
None of this sounds like “change” that makes me, or anybody I know, feel secure. Having this silver tongued empty suit holding the office of President of the United States is one scary thought. This is like having a 2nd grader fill the post of University Dean. There is absolutely no way a 3 year senator has the experience to assume the most powerful political position on the planet. There is no way Obama is anything other than the usual, say what we want to hear, politician. Look how many times he’s had to back up and change his story. Look at the people he associates with. He obtained a $200,000.00 earmark for the maniacal Father Michael Phlegler’s Church for crying out loud. He’s been a friend and confidant with the man for 20 years; same with Jeremiah Wright. Now he claims not to know of their hate mongering. And this is supposed to instill confidence in his vision, awareness and judgment?
Give me a break.
Our country is in a mess today. We are grasping at straws looking for a politician who will magically “fix” everything that is broken about our country. Hoards are drooling and jumping on the Obama bandwagon without knowing where the band wagon is, where it’s been, where it’s going or who the driver is, much less whether or not he knows how to drive the band wagon.
In order to be fair to Obama, I must admit that I’m not excited about either of the other two candidates. I’ve researched the net, followed news reports and read multiple books about the Clinton Presidency. In every one of them Hillary is depicted as an ill tempered cut-throat power hungry shrew; Out for Hillary, period. If I’d read it only once, I’d allow room for doubt, but she is painted with the same by brush by every author. Her utter disdain for Secret Service personnel, our military, White House property, police officers and anybody else who gets in her way is the stuff of legends. I don’t believe everybody lies on Hillary. The constant stream of Clinton scandals, (including Hillary) is well known by everybody with access to mass media. There isn’t 10 cents worth of difference between her policies and Obama’s. They are both socialists and will go full blast into redistribution of wealth; yours and mine and we won’t like it. (Once either or both of them is in office, our regrets won’t reverse their policies).
Then there’s John Mc Cain. I gag a little less at Mc Cain; mostly because he is against earmarks and has a record to prove it, and he won’t yank our troops out of Iraq prematurely leaving us looking like wimps to those who’d love to wipe every one of us off the map. On many other issues, he makes my head swim. I get the feeling he is still mad that he didn’t win eight years ago and has been making his own party pay the price ever since. He seems hell bent to stick pins in us weekly. I’m a conservative so I’ll probably vote for him for the reasons stated, but I will write to him frequently, just as I write to local and federal politicians expressing my views for current issues in question. I write to express my views and believe it or not, they respond.
I firmly believe citizen involvement is desperately needed. Politicians aren’t going to “fix” anything. They are so obsessed with their own agendas and so heady with their power that they don’t bother themselves with us, the little people. They just pick our pockets and go their merry way, pampering their hedonistic selves at our expense.
Who’s to blame? We are, We The People!
We can’t possibly sit down and write a letter or make a phone call to make our voices heard. We’re too busy. We might miss “Sex in the City” or “American Idol”. (After all, there are such things as priorities). Way too many of us, as individuals, won’t say or do anything. We just gripe and moan and blame anybody but ourselves. Wake up people, for heaven’s sake. This is our country. We are the bosses, not the politicians, judges and /or the activist groups. THEY WORK FOR US!!! If they don’t do their jobs, let them know so often and so loud that they can no longer ignore us. Every time a politician pulls a boner, every time a bill is presented that is counterproductive or immoral, every time an absurd earmark surfaces, notify everyone on your email list and ask them to forward it. Create a network. Write a letter to the editor. Call the politicians who are supposed to represent you. Politicians have email addresses, street addresses, telephone numbers. Bombard them!! If they start getting hundreds of thousands of letters, emails and phone calls a day, they will have to do something different to get us off their backs, (i.e. start listening) lest they drown in our communications.
Eventually, We The People will speak up. I hope we don’t wait till the “enlightened” judges, politicians and activist groups financially and morally bankrupt our country and make life unbearable before we get off our duffs and open our mouths.
