Justice Cordelia Clark will be the keynote speaker at the Maury County Bar Association’s annual Law Day.

The event will be held 9 a.m. Thursday at the Maury County Courthouse in the 2nd floor courtroom with the public encouraged to attend.

Clark was born in Franklin and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University. She served as circuit judge for the 21st Judicial District of Tennessee (Williamson, Hickman, Lewis and Perry Counties) from 1989 to 1999.

In 2005, she was selected by Governor Phil Bredesen to serve on the Tennessee Supreme Court, and in 2006 she was recommended for an eight-year term.

Other activities planned for the event include the presentation of the Liberty Bell Award, the recognition of this year’s High School Mock Trial Competition district champion (Tullahoma High School) and a ceremony honoring the late Judge William Bryan Cain culminating with a memorial tree planting on Maury County Courthouse grounds at 10:30 a.m.

The event will be preceded by a 7 a.m. breakfast at Christie’s Restaurant in downtown Columbia.
